Teen Leaders
Week-long camps for developing leadership for ages 13-17. The program is designed to equip those who want to be leaders in their communities with tools, ideas, and skills to impact the world around them. Each program is developed in progression and as a multi-year experience with a final goal that teen leaders will apply to be staff members when they are of age. Participation in the program does not guarantee a position on staff.
Leadership programs are offered at multiple camp locations throughout the summer, Leadership Academy Camp at Warner Park and Nashville Sail Camp. Each camp has unique activities and leadership opportunities, but share a common structure for leadership development.
Leaders-in-Training
The Leaders in Training program is a week-long camp experience designed to equip those who want to lead in their communities with tools, ideas, and skills to grow and impact the world around them. These high school students will spend the first few days learning how to lead activities, shadowing a counselor, and gaining outdoor adventure skills. The latter half of the week is dedicated to stepping up and leading activities for the group you’ve been paired with, meeting local community leaders, and implementing an all-camp game you helped plan. This journey will also be full of senior camp programming with a group of fellow Leaders in Training, with whom you will make memories, share experiences, and grow as leaders.
Counselor-In-Training
After completing the Leaders-In-Training program or at age 16, teen leaders can sign up as a Counselor-In-Training (CIT). This can be done in one season or over multiple seasons.
The Counselor in Training program is a week of advanced leadership development designed to strengthen the passions and abilities of those who find themselves wanting to make a difference. These leaders will be paired with a counselor for the week and given numerous opportunities to lead through activities, lessons, and role modeling for the younger campers. You will spend the week bonding with and leading the campers of the tribe you are chosen to work with, and with the learning from the counselor you are assigned to. The counselor will watch over and help guide you, teaching you to make the most out of every moment you have with your campers. By the end of the week, you will walk away with a deeper understanding of leadership, and a truly applicable skillset to make a difference.
