THE Horse Camps Measurable Goals Introduce campers to safe horsemanship Teach Correct Handling of horses Teach correct grooming and tack up Teach riding skills according to riders level Provide innovative ground lessons to further campers knowledge Measured by: Use of a skills level pin program Campers progress through the levels as they accomplish skills and can show their knowledge Develop community awareness, leadership skills, and empathy All campers help each other in the tack up/grooming process More advanced riders help lead line less advanced riders Measured by: Competency in assisting in the lead line and tacking process Assigning campers different horses to work with and evaluating the leadership development Written evaluation from parents Develop a work ethic along with Diversity Awareness All campers take part in the care of the horse daily including the less glamorous chores All campers work with a variety of horses exposing them to the different personalities each horse has Measured by: Written parent evaluation forms Observation of the attitudes when doing horse chores Written questionnaire asking campers after their camp experience what horses they liked best and asking them to describe those horses personalities Innovative recreation programming with and without horses All camp special events to provide life skills learning situations Optional activities involve a choice of horse and non-horse activities Measured by: Written camper and parent evaluation Observation of the choices that campers make Appreciation for the environment Programming with environmental specialists Developing a recycle program Learning how horses behave in the wild Measured by: Written camp/parent evaluation How much money is raised through recycling!
