Birchwood Camp - Junior Canoe Camp

This canoe camp is designed for younger, less experienced canoers. The first day of Junior Canoe Camp is spent at Birchwood Camp, where campers sharpen their canoe skills, check for correct backcountry gear and practice setting up camp. The next two nights are spent away from camp, camping and canoeing the Nancy Lake Canoe Trails near Willow. Campers gain experience in outdoor living skills, wilderness smarts and survival, and develop deep friendships as they enjoy Alaska’s backcountry. Campers are guided by several experienced canoers and a wilderness first responder trained staff. Prior canoe experience is not necessary but basic physical fitness is required. In order to stay safe in the back country, Birchwood Camp provides some of the wilderness & camping gear, and other required gear is provided by the camper. This camp has limited space: only 10 camper spaces available—register early!
