CU Summer Scholars - VENVI: Capturing Movement through Computing
Computational thinking is a skill that has been identified as a 21st Century literacy. However, many approaches to helping student learn this skill are seen as boring. What happens, though, when you bring together movement and computer programming? VENVI is a camp for rising 7th-9th grade students that provides interactive programming experiences. Students will be exposed to the basics of computer programming such as loops, variables, and conditionals in order to create interactive performances for virtual characters.
Requirements:
Basic computer skills are necessary
No movement experience is required
Comfortable clothing
Over the course of the week, we will:
Learn basic movement sequences
Create performances for 3-dimensional avatars
Work on teams of students
