CU Summer Scholars - Automotive Engineering with CU ICAR

The Automotive Engineering Summer Scholars Week at CU-ICAR takes students on a journey through the various aspects of Automotive Engineering. Along the way, students develop an understanding of the fundamental science and engineering that it takes to put a quality vehicle together. Automotive engineering is a complex and multi-disciplinary field, and cannot be covered in one week. Therefore, this particular camp is designed to focus on “Sustainable Transportation”. Students will learn about the state of the art in technologies to improve energy efficiency and fuel economy in modern automobiles, including automotive lightweighting with advanced materials and processes, advanced internal combustion based powertrains, electrified and hybrid powertrains, battery systems, and wireless charging. The week is divided into 8 half day and 1 full day sessions that includes tours, instructional, demonstrational and hands-on activities. Participants will stay on Clemson University’s campus and enjoy fun filled activities in the area and will be transported to and from the CU-ICAR facilities in Greenville, SC.
