Deer Crossing Wilderness Camp - Counselor-in-Training Program

Teens ages 14-17 learn the skills needed to work as a camp counselor. CITs are guided by a CIT director who helps plan their daily activities, conducts training sessions, and evaluates their progress. CITs may assist instructors in program activities and help in daily jobs of camp life. They also have access to all regular camp programming.

A wilderness adventure for 8-17 year olds on beautiful Loon Lake in Eldorado National Forest near Lake Tahoe. Deer Crossing Camp is an ideal opportunity for campers to experience life away from the pressures of technology where friendships are made face-to-face. Our wilderness, off-the-grid, lakeside location provides a beautiful and safe environment for campers to challenge themselves. Our focus is two-fold: (1) build self-esteem through competence (Canoeing, Sailing, Rock Climbing, Windsurfing, Technical Tree Climbing, Kayaking, Backpacking, and more); and (2) true leaders first learn to lead themselves. Our handsome mountain lodge houses the dining hall, kitchen, crafts room, first aid room, and bathrooms with flush toilets and real showers.
