Camp River Ranch - Rapid Runners
The Wenatchee River is the most popular rafting destination in Washington State, offering thrills on what is considered a low-hazard river. The rapids on the Wenatchee are exciting and "forgiving", meaning they are followed by sections of calm water. Campers depart from River Ranch with their counselors late in the afternoon Tuesday to make the 2-hour drive over the mountains. They spend the night sleeping in tents at one of the many beautiful Forest Service campgrounds near Leavenworth, making dinner together, and enjoying a campfire and games. Early Wednesday the group meets with professional white water guides, receives an introduction into white water paddling technique and safety concerns, and sets out for a day on the river.
The group will enjoy exciting rapids as well as calm and peaceful stretches and have a river-side lunch. After a day on the river, the group may return to their campsite for a relaxing evening, or drive back to the West side of the mountains and return to Camp.
Every camp session begins with girls planning their camp schedule and activities together, based on the interests of the girls and the week’s theme.
Camp staff help campers plan a balanced and well-rounded session. Each camper will get to try a variety of different Classic Camp activities.
