Horse camp offers the classic camp experience plus two hours each full day at the Horse area: One hour in ground lessons and the other hour in a mounted lesson. 6- and 13-day sessions also include a trail ride. Each grade level session can accommodate riders of varying experience: Beginner: Campers with little or no riding experience. The goal is to develop comfort around horses and ride them at a walk. Intermediate: Campers with some riding experience. The goal is to learn about horse care and develop comfort riding at a trot. Advanced: Campers with considerable experience with horses. The goal is to learn about tacking and saddling, and develop comfort riding at a lope. 6 Days, Sun-Fri 5 Riding Days 3 Days, Wed-Fri 3 Riding Days With Classic Camp, girls decide what activities to do. Each camp session begins with girls planning their camp schedule together, based on the interests of the girls and the week’s theme. Camp staff help their campers plan a balanced and well-rounded session. While every camper will not participate in every activity, each classic camp unit will choose several age-appropriate activities: Swimming, nature exploration, leadership development, row boating, outdoor skills, arts, theater, songs, games, hiking, berry picking at the local berry farm, campfires and cookouts are just a few of the activity possibilities. For campers entering grades 4-8 you will also have the possibility of participating in kayaking, canoeing, archery, rock climbing and/or our low ropes challenge course and so much more! In addition to all the exciting program areas there are to experience, campers sleep out under the stars, enjoy campfires, flag ceremonies and community living. Campers participate in these activities while living as an integral part of the camp community sharing challenges, accomplishments, responsibilities, fun and memories with a small group of her peers and positive adult role models. Each week has a theme that is reflected in the programming, camp-wide activities and theme meals.
