At Camp Jewell YMCA, overnight camp is where confidence grows, friendships flourish, and every child belongs. For more than 125 summers, families have trusted Camp Jewell as a place where kids can unplug, explore, and discover who they are — surrounded by 560 acres of forest, trails, and lakefront in Colebrook, Connecticut.
Our campers build independence, develop new skills, and make friendships that last a lifetime. From swimming, climbing, and creative arts to horseback riding at our Hide-A-Way Ranch, every day is filled with adventure, laughter, and discovery.
Our caring counselors — many of whom grew up at Camp Jewell — serve as mentors and role models, guiding campers through challenges, teamwork, and growth. With a 1:4 staff-to-camper ratio and a two-week counselor training program, safety and fun always go hand in hand.
Camp Jewell’s community is built on the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Inclusion. We intentionally create a welcoming, diverse environment where every camper can be themselves, connect with others, and feel at home before they even arrive.
It’s no wonder that over 99% of our campers make new friends and that so many return year after year. Come experience why Camp Jewell YMCA has been New England’s home for adventure, leadership, and belonging for more than a century.
We can’t wait to welcome you to camp this summer!
