Mountain Camp Woodside - Day Camp Program
Mountain Camp Woodside seeks to create a Resident Camp atmosphere within our Day Camp program. We focus on activities and games that create a sense of community enable our campers to make new friends and take home memories that will last a lifetime.
Camp begins each morning when the kids are dropped at the Check-In point. Campers are welcomed to camp by their age-group counselors and spend time on the field meeting with their group, discussing the day and playing a variety of sports and games.
Structured activities begin with "Round Up", an exciting all-camp time to sing songs, make announcements and gear up for a fun day. After "Round Up", each age group makes a trip to the locker room where each camper is assigned a locker to store their personal belongings throughout the week. Campers spend the first period of the day doing a special activity with their age group and this time gives our campers a chance to try a variety of new activities in a group setting where they are both familiar and comfortable.
After group time, campers rotate through four "Free Choice" activities that they will focus on throughout the week. Campers are able to pick their "Free Choice" activities on the first day of camp. Focusing on activities gives campers a chance to have plenty of time doing the activities they love and the opportunity to learn skills in a given area. Campers are escorted to and from the activity areas and all activities are taught by counselors with experience teaching that particular activity. With over 22 activities to choose from, your campers will have plenty of choices!
Lunch takes place after the second "Free Choice" activity and is included in the camp tuition. A hot lunch option is always available as well as a sandwich bar, a salad bar, a baked potato station and a pasta option. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians and we are able to accommodate some dietary restrictions.
After lunch, campers get together for a short "Group Time" relaxing out of the sun, playing games, spending time with their camp group and counselors and recouping their energy for a busy afternoon. The afternoon offers two more "Free Choice" activities after which, campers meet up with their age groups and eat a healthy snack.
At the end of the day, all of the age groups will then make their way back to the field to do a fun, "All-Camp Activity" such as capture the flag or "angleball," a Mountain Camp Woodside specialty.
