Red Ribbon Camp (formerly Tataya Mato) makes all the fun and discovery of a traditional camping experience available to children impacted by HIV/AIDS.
Offering a unique combination of a traditional summer camp meets support system this 5-day session brings peers and mentors together for kids in similar circumstances. Rather than focusing on diagnosis, Tataya Mato creates a relaxed environment where youth spend time away from stressors associated with HIV/AIDS.
Campers choose from the same activities available in any other session, including arts and crafts, recreation, fishing, outdoor education, campfires, a challenge course, and campouts. We also include our character development programming to help campers learn positive social skills and discover their unique gifts and abilities.
Special to Red Ribbon Camp, artists from around the city come in to facilitate activities and campers enjoy exploring global art on a field trip to Newfields. For older campers, Jameson offers a Youth Leadership track, focused on adventure and courage.
