June 10th through the 15th is the training and orientation week for FAST. FAST Academy Cadets will develop leadership and professional skills including: resume development, interviewing, professional communication, conflict resolution, time management, organization, public speaking, and more. All of these skills can help with collage, scholarship, and job applications. Cadet’s will also learn how to be effective as camp staff and youth mentors, the in’s and out’s of every camp department’s operational structure. At the end of the week many campers will receive their red shirt. This shirt symbolizes an invitation to return to Aldersgate throughout the summer to demonstrate leadership, to practice learned skills, and continue to grow. Most CADETS then use their hours of volunteering to meet community service requirement for school, scholarship applications, and more.
