The Program at Camp Wawenock is structured and consistent, with significant choice built in for all ages of campers. At the start of camp, campers select six activities they wish to focus on for the summer. (This is in addition to swimming instruction, which all campers take.) The same campers and staff are scheduled together in these focus activities, all summer long, maximizing learning opportunities and skill development for individual campers and class groups. Throughout each summer, and from year to year, campers work towards individual goals in their chosen activities. They are also recognized for reaching particular milestones as they develop their levels of skill and proficiency in successive summers. Older campers working on their Advanced Skills and Instructor’s Aide levels begin to learn the basics of assessment and instruction in that activity.
