The Starter Program at Chimney Corners Camp YMCA is a 2-week overnight summer camp for girls finishing 2nd–4th grade, thoughtfully designed as a first-time camp experience in a supportive, nurturing environment. Ideal for younger campers and families new to overnight camp, the Starter Program provides a gentle introduction to camp life while building confidence, independence, and friendships. Campers live in small cabin groups with attentive, highly trained staff who offer extra guidance, encouragement, and care throughout the session. Each day includes a mix of age-appropriate activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, performing arts, outdoor adventure, nature exploration, sports, and creative play—giving campers the chance to try new things while feeling successful and supported. With shorter session length, consistent routines, and plenty of fun traditions like campfires, group games, and special events, campers leave with a sense of accomplishment, new friendships, and excitement to return. Rooted in YMCA values, the Starter Program is the perfect first step into a classic New England overnight camp experience for girls.
