Campers experience Alaska in these thrilling adventure camps. All overnight wilderness programs require a properly fitted backpack, a wilderness-rated packable sleeping bag, and hiking boots. Campers should be able to carry a 20-30 lb backpack, be physically able to share the weight of carrying an 80 lb canoe for up to 1 mile over land, and be comfortable hiking for 3 miles a day.
Paddle on the Coast:
Campers will spend a night camping at Millers Landing and get an opportunity to sea kayak on a half-day trip in Resurrection Bay with Sunny Cove.
Voyaging Exploration: Campers will practice and gain confidence in their paddling and camping skills with an overnight canoe adventure in the Nancy Lake system.
Voyaging Quest: Campers will improve their canoeing and learn how to portage a canoe during a threeday, two-night paddle through Nancy Lake’s lake system, allowing them to explore more of the area.
Pack n Paddle: Campers enjoy canoeing and backpacking in this adventure camp. Canoe through the Nancy Lake’s lake system, spend one night camping there, then go to the Hatcher Pass area for backpacking and to spend 1 night.
Trailblazing Exploration: Campers will go on an overnight backpack trip in Hatcher Pass to learn and practice hiking and setting up a minimally invasive campsite where they will spend the night.
Trailblazing Quest: Campers will practice their backpacking skills and camping skills on a 3-day, 2 night trip in Hatcher Pass.
Trailblazing Expedition: Campers will challenge themselves on a 4-day, 3-night backpacking trip through Johnson Pass in the Chugach National Forest. *Campers will hike 8 miles a day.
