Join our partner The Ecology School for a 6-day overnight camp at beautiful River Bend Farm in Saco, Maine. Campers come from all over for this immersive ecology summer learning camp. During a week-long program, campers will explore and connect with the ecosystems that make up our state’s unique ecology including visiting the farm on site, exploring the surrounding forest, learning about our green campus, and a field trip to near-by tide pools. Daily, campers will explore with their field group and get to choose from a variety of camper choice activities such as canoeing, outdoor cooking, and nature art. Each day ends with a campfire and reflection. The Ecology School’s state-of-the-art River Bend Farm Campus on the banks of the Saco River will act as a home base. Campers will stay the night in our state-of-the-art dormitory at River Bend Farm with Ecology School educators as counselors. As part of the registration process, caregivers/campers will have an opportunity to request same-gender or gender inclusive housing. At The Ecology School we strive to create a safe living and learning environment for all participants – inclusive of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression, and providing gender inclusive housing is an important aspect of that effort. Meals are a time of community building, and the menu is varied and homemade and fruit is always available to campers both during the meal and as a snack between meals. A focus of The Ecology School in general, and the Summer Ecology Academy specifically, is the opportunity to connect with each other and the world around us, as well as build independence. Cell phones and other connected devices work directly against that goal and thus campers are not permitted to bring those to camp. Campers are dropped off by adults between 1:30-3:30pm on Sunday, August 4 and picked up by adults on Friday, August 9 between 12-1pm. Campers will be asked to fill out additional registration and health information through The Ecology School as camp approaches. The registration deadline for this specific camp is Monday, July 1st. Cancellation policy specific to this camp: Minimum non-refundable payment at the time of registration: $155 Cancel before June 1 - Full refund minus $155 Cancellation after July 1 - If paid in full, 75% of tuition will be refunded ($825), if not paid in full, anything above $275 will be refunded.
