Camp Jorn YMCA - TEVA
Camp Jorn’s TEVA program offers older campers increased independence and responsibility, with some of the familiarity and routine of traditional summer camp. The TEVA program is for 13-15 year old’s to challenge themselves in their CJ experience. Campers will live in CJ’s Yurt Village. It is set slightly apart from the main camp area and offers living space and a bathhouse. TEVA Campers follow a Main Camp schedule supplemented with challenging teen activities. Campers will eat many meals in our Dining Hall, but have the option to cook some of their meals at Yurt Village. The group will participate in traditional camp classes for one week and spend the other week participating in teen programming culminating in a short off-camp adventure trip. Teen-only evening programs, bonding time through low or high ropes, and an adventure trip are highlights of the TEVA experience. With a co-ed group of participants, campers will operate as a single unit for some meals and activities, and as individual Yurts for others. TEVA campers will have an experience to grow through outdoor adventure, teamwork and group living.
The highlight of the session is a beginner level 4 day, 3 night canoe trip or backpacking trip (weather permitting). TEVA campers learn the basics of paddling and/or backpacking and wilderness living at Camp Jorn while gaining skills in teamwork, trust, and communication. On the trip, participants practice their canoeing/backpacking skills, enjoy the Northwoods scenery, and learn introductory camping and leave no trace skills.
