Let loose and experiment as you work with mixed media in layers to create vibrant, textured, and unique pieces of art! Students will learn new techniques as they explore texture, sponging, pattern making, stenciling, glazing, photo transfers, and embedded objects. We will experiment with acrylic paints, gesso, Modge Podge, paint pens, Sharpies, charcoal, and pastels as we create layers. Our process will allow students the freedom to create without judgment, and they will walk away with several finished mixed media pieces on canvas. For the final phase of layering where we include found objects and images, students can bring in small objects (under 2.5 inches wide) and printed images to include in their artwork, or they may select from a wide array of options provided in class. Please be sure to wear clothes that can get messy!
