Cabrillo Summer Youth Program - Creative Cooking

This camp will borrow from the classic French kitchen brigade system in order to simplify workflow and make kitchen directives concise and understandable. In addition to learning kitchen safety, food hygiene, cooking techniques and kitchen etiquette, we will be creating an environment that emphasizes inclusive, mutual respect, and teamwork as we work in small groups to prepare and cook meals.This structure helps everyone know what station they are working in, how to set it up, and includes a list of responsibilities that go along with their particular station. We will prepare handmade ravioli and sauces, fried rice with veggies, chicken and veggie pot pie, vegetable frittata, taco party with all the fixings, chocolate mousse with cinnamon whipped cream, strawberry turnovers, lemon custard, and so much more! We invite parents, grandparents, siblings and friends to come and join us on the last day of camp for a wonderful feast created entirely by the Young Chefs.
