Nurse camp provides students who have completed 9-12th grade with hands-on learning from the perspective of a student as they experience a glimpse of 4 semesters of our program in 3 days. Campers will learn basic skills such as Health assessments (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.), sterilization techniques, proper body mechanics while transferring a patient, and therapeutic communication. They will also benefit from a comprehensive child and babysitting safety course including basic CPR and first aid that will give them real-world skills. A virtual dementia tour, poverty simulation, and disaster training are exciting new additions to this year’s camp.
