Kennolyn Camps - Day Camp
Kennolyn has been family owned and operated since 1946 on 300 acres of redwoods overlooking Monterey Bay. Like all Kennolyn Camps, Day Camp is a traditional, structured camp program designed to foster emotional, social, and physical growth in each camper. The program, for grades K-9, offers over 40 hours a week of fun-filled camp with a variety of group activities and exciting electives. Although the program cannot be compared to simple day care, camp tuition can be claimed as a day care tax deduction. Bus transportation is provided from Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and other cities in Monterey County which makes the program a convenient option for working parents. Mature and professional staff provides a 4:1 camper to counselor ratio which is supplemented by a registered nurse or EMT. Two counselors provide constant supervision for each group with the assistance of Counselors in Training. Many specialized activities demand additional Activity Counselors who work with each group as well. Campers are placed in mixed grade and gender groups with grade ranges no greater than what is listed on the Activity Schedule. Activities include: trapeze, horseback riding, vaulting, animal care, fencing, riflery, archery, ropes courses, climbing, Red Cross swimming, tennis, arts and crafts, pottery and more! Once the buses arrive at Kennolyn, the campers meet their groups and get ready to begin the day. Each day starts with “Opening Circle” which includes a flag raising ceremony, announcements, skits, and songs. Groups have six activity periods and campers who have signed up for electives leave their groups when needed. The day ends with a popsicle treat and “Closing Circle” in one of our redwood groves to wrap up the day with songs, skits, and notes for the next day. The campers board the buses and return home to rest up for another busy day. Each day, the campers wear tennis shoes, hats, and play clothes and bring a backpack with their swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and lunch. An optional lunch program is available for an additional fee. Camp T-shits are included in the tuition and are passed out of the first day of camp.
