Wilderness Awareness School - Wild Women's Weekend

Join us for a women's deep nature connection weekend! This hands-on weekend will cover a variety of topics. Here's how the weekend is organized: Saturday Learn the art of making fire with modern and primitive methods. How do you successfully make a fire with matches in wet conditions? Can you really make fire by rubbing two sticks together? After focusing on fire, you'll get a glimpse into wildlife tracking. Open your eyes to the secret life of mammals by finding their track and sign. Then you'll get a taste of how to journal in the natural world. This routine will deepen your ability to find meaning and connection to your surroundings and your self! Sunday Begin the day tuning into bird-song using our core routines of awareness. Spring is a prime time for learning about resident and migratory birds. Then you'll practice strengthening and moving your body in a natural setting. This session will be a gentle blend of yoga and crossfit in nature! We'll wrap the weekend with an introduction to wild edible plants. Learn how to safely and confidently identify, harvest, and consume local plants. Participants will leave with new set of eyes to view the natural world as well as a new bond to other like-minded women! We have an all-star group of instructors leading this course: Lindsay Huettmann - Wild Plant Instructor Karen Fletcher- Nature Movement Instructor Heather Durham - Bird Song & Journaling Instructor Michelle Van Naersson - Wildlife Tracking Instructor Kim Shelton - Fire Making Instructor Program Logistics Join us for one or both days!
