Cub Creek Science Camp - Jr. Vet
What is a day in the life of a veterinarian? At Cub Creek Science Camp we offer the Junior Veterinarian course, better known as Jr. Vet, to help campers understand what is that a Veterinarian does. For an entire week campers will learn some of the basic skills that all Vets know like suturing, injections, and basic wellness exams.Every week, camp's veterinarian comes out to perform a live surgery on any animals we may have needing procedures. Often, he performs spays and neuters on cats and dogs, but in the past campers have been able to see surgeries on our more exotic animals like alpacas and wallabies. Campers will also learn how to read animal x-rays and hypothesize a diagnosis for basic ailments. Campers who have taken Jr. Vet are able to take the advanced version of the course that teaches more in depth concepts like catching and handling animals and animal genetics .
