Ventura Wild - Home School Classes

Learning should be dynamic and experiential… …and our best teacher in almost every subject continues to be nature’s complex systems, cycles and diversity. The older group will include exploration and free play with more space created for skills including but not limited to: Bow making, whittling, fire kits, cordage and other plant uses, foraging for edible plants, flute and whistle making and shelter building. The younger group will explore nature and build confidence and joy through sensory awareness games, stories, songs and discovering the natural wonders of the moment: Bugs, water, mud, trees, rocks, sticks, wind, sun, flowers and holes and so so much more to inspire a curiosity and wonder in the world! All students gain critical thinking and learning skills through “place based learning” in local ecosystems and through independent and group experiences. Every day we explore wild places around our communities and gain sensory awareness, knowledge, skills and compassion. Our instructors are skilled naturalists, educators and mentors.
