Camp Christian - CYF - High School
The Goal of Camp Christian is to build as closely as possible "the Kingdom of God on Earth" each week. CYF stand for Christian Youth Fellowship and is for High School Youth. Much of this camp centers around Leadership Development as this camp is led by the High School Seniors as well as Adult Counselors. Each morning begins with a 15 minute time of individual reflection and prayer we call "Morning Watch." After Breakfast and clean up the youth will participate in two different classes. This year they are: "Piecing the Puzzle of Me" whose Curriculum Goal is To lead our youth through a reasonable, direct, honest, genuine, hopeful conversation about relationships and sex and the Gospel of Luke whose Curriculum Goal is To share the joy, love, compassion, and healing of Jesus with the youth of Camp Christian while at the same time engaging in some thoughtful and provoking discussion of what it means to be an outsider, as well as what it means to be healed.
After lunch are committee meeting with each committee supporting the life of camp that week. Committees include: Choir, Talent Show, DIG (our outreach committee), Vespers, Consecration, Photography, et al. This is followed by freetime for socializing, games in the gym, volleyball, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, etc. After supper there is vespers followed by whole camp activities: line dancing, talent show, table games, Dance (Their music). Friday night is our Consecration Service. Youth are invited to make a Confession of Faith or recommit their lives to Jesus Christ. All are invited to participate in communion whether they are baptized or not. We do not do baptisms as we believe this should be done in the community where they are nurtured year round - the local church.
