Special Equestrians
Special Equestrians is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of individuals with disabilities through the equine experience.
Summer camp is open to children ages 5-16 who would qualify for therapeutic riding lessons, whether or not they're current students.
Camp activities include group therapeutic riding lessons, unmounted instruction in horse care and stable management, group games and activities that encourage team-building and social growth, and traditional camp games and activities like water races and tie-dying.
At the end of each week, campers participate in a horse show to demonstrate their new skills to family and friends. Campers make photo albums to collect their memories of camp, as well as create art projects with "horsey" themes as keepsakes.
