The Carroll County 4-H Camping Program offers 2 weeks of residential camp for campers of ages 8-14 at Hashawha Environmental Center and 1 week of day camp for campers of ages 5-8 at the University of Maryland Extension Carroll County Office. Program activities are mainly youth-led and vary from year to year, depending on the camp theme. Residential camp typically includes hiking and nature activities, recreational games, crafts, large group activities, and educational classes. Campfires are a highlight of the week and a chance for camper groups to plan and perform group songs, skits, and cheers. Day camp includes a mix of indoor and outdoor activities meant to engage campers in the natural world. Activities can include outdoor exploration and games, stories, crafts, and hands-on lessons. Our staff members include both youth teen leaders and adults that have gone through 30 hours of training each year. Our camp is accredited through the American Camp Association.
