Join us in the ultimate hands-on, artistic experience! This program is an introduction to the fundamentals of good design and an opportunity for personal expression in woodworking. Situated in our fully equipped woodshop within the Visual and Performing Arts Center, each camper will choose, plan, and ultimately build their own unique piece of small furniture. Two experienced instructors will guide campers as they develop skills in design, measurement, construction, and finishing techniques. With a strong emphasis on safety, campers will learn to identify and appropriately use a variety of hand tools. The small group size will allow the instructors to give each camper extensive guidance throughout their experience. There will be ample time for each camper to work on individual projects and to pursue their own vision. At the end of each week, campers will depart with a finely crafted project and the satisfaction of knowing that it was created with their own two hands. Participants with little or no prior woodworking experience are invited to enroll. Choose one or four weeks.
